Dalam sambutannya menyampaikan jumlah balita di Kota Tanjungpinang cukup besar yaitu 21.926 (8,48%) dari penduduk Kota Tanjungpinang saat ini. Untuk memperoleh balita sehat sebagai generasi bangsa, perlu perhatian serius terhadap perkembangan balita. “Dengan jumlah balita tersebut, maka upaya pembinaan secara komprehensif dan berkesinambungan, termasuk pembinaan kesehatannya yang tidak dilakukan secara setengah-setengah. Balita sehat itu pasti berawal dari orang tua yang sehat pula.” Ungkapnya.
Upaya untuk memperoleh balita sehat antara lain melalui pemantauan pertumbuhan balita di Posyandu secara rutin yang berjumlah 136 posyandu di Kota Tanjungpinang. “Kegiatan ini bukan hanya merupakan tanggung jawab petugas kesehatan semata tapi yang paling dominan adalah peran orang tua untuk selalu menstimulasi perkembangan anak sesuai buku pedoman Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak yang dimiliki.” Lanjut Ariza.
Kepala Dinkesdalduk KB Kota Tanjungpinang, Rustam, SKM. M.Si melaporkan sebanyak 100 balita ini mengikuti lomba yang dipilih berdasarkan kategori usia dan merupakan utusan dari kelurahan dan kecamatan se-Kota Tanjungpinang. “Lomba balita sehat ini dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan dari tingkat kelurahan, kecamatan dan sekarang tingkat Kota Tanjungpinang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memantau pertumbuhan serta perkembangan anak dalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas SDM yang unggul dengan asupan gizi yang cukup serta melakukan imunisasi yang tuntas.” Jelas Rustam.
